Summer Reading Post #3 (6/13/19)

Write the title of your book, and the minutes you read today.
Ex.  The Magic Tree House, 30 minutes.

 What was climax in  today’s story.  The climax is the turning point of the story, the moment of high suspense.  This is the time when the  character in the story has to make a decision.

    Tell Them Who I Am (1hr)

    I'm starting a new book so I have not really read much about the main climax. The main character (who has not presented his name yet) joined a soup company to help give food to what the main character says "the people who need it the most". I think that the main character will write about his discoveries about homeless people in a book based on the information he gave of taking notes about homeless people and there daily life. He mentions things such as behavior and daily life style of the homeless people.

    "better then perfect" by by Melissa Kantor. (45 min)
    After Juliet's mom allows her to sleep over at her best friend Sofia`s house she comes home searching for her mom and right when she walks in she yells "Mom" no reply Juliet goes to her room looking for her mom still no sign at that point. Juliet is thinking she might have gone out. Juliet walks into her moms bathroom and sees her mom on the floor. Her mom is rushed to the hospital however this leads to Juliet feeling sad,lonely, and hopeless. Then her father appears in the emergency to face his daughter which they have not seen each other since her parents split up.

    Magic Tree House #5 Night of the Ninjas
    I felt scared when Jack fell in the cold water and Annie decide to put her hand in so that Jack can get out of the water. I got scared and I this is the climax.

    " The Hate U Give" 1 hour.

    I am not at the climax but the climax for the parts I have read so far is that Starr goes to the police station to answer questions. She felt so scared and she thought it was going to be " deep Bullpoop. other word for Bullpoop). She then went to say that Funerals aren't for dead people, they are for the living.

As you may have noticed, this week we will be working on how authors use different figurative of speech to make their book more interesting for the reader. Author's also appeal to the reader's senses.  Have you ever read a book, where you can clearly imagine the cake sitting on the table.  Author's do that on purpose, so you can sink in to the story. Today, I would like for you to pay close attention to how your author writes the story and what senses are being triggered while reading the book. Quote 3 examples, plus the page number where you found it.
