Where is the story taking place  (the setting).  Do you think if the setting changed, would it affect the story? or would it stay the same?

    MAGIC TREE HOUSE #8 MIDNIGHT ON THE MOON (2 HR) The setting takes places in the moon an in the moon base, it also takes place in the tree house. If the setting change, the story would change too, because all magic tree house books are different, this one is in the moon a long time ago, if it was in the forest like the last book it would not be called Midnight on the Moon.

    This story takes place in Washington D.C in a small place called the Refuge. The Refuge is a place were homeless woman come to eat,sleep,talk,go to the bathroom,take showers,and rest. The setting of the book is cold to the point were woman are shivering in front of the door of the Refuge just to get in. Sometimes the weather would be warm but in that case the same amount of people would show up just later in the day. If the weather were to change to lets say a rainstorm there would be more people showing up because they dont want to get wet. The only problem to this is that the volunteers would have to serve more hot meals.

    "better then perfect" by by Melissa Kantor. (30 min)
    So far in "better than perfect" its taking place at her and her moms good friends house. Her name is Grace Robinson and lives with her husband and three kids. The Robinson's were good friends with the Newman`s so they were fine with letting Juliet stay with them. In this part of the story Her moms sister keeps forcing Juliet to go live with her in Oregon she thinks its for the best. If Juliet setting were to change, it would affect her academically. Juliet does not want to leave because the beginning of the semester has started and doesn't want to lose her chances of getting into Harvard.

    The giver 1 hour

    The story is taking place on earth and if it was some place else they would need air because no specific location was specified. I think for the most part the story would not change on any place on earth.

Hi everyone, So I have heard many of you guys would like to continue to post on our blog during the weekends. I am so excited to know that you guys are enjoying the time you are spending reading. For today, I would like for you try something new, take a challenge.  I would like for you to read in a new place today, for example, maybe you always read in the couch in your living room, today, take your book and read outside, in your room, in the kitchen, and briefly explain your experience.  Did you like reading in a new place? Write the title of your book, plus the minutes you read today. As you may have noticed, this week we will be working on how authors use different figurative of speech to make their book more interesting for the reader. Author's also appeal to the reader's senses.  Have you ever read a book, where you can clearly imagine the cake sitting on the table.  Author's do that on purpose, so you can sink in to the story. Today, I would like for you to pay close attention to how your author writes the story and what senses are being triggered while reading the book. Quote 3 examples, plus the page number where you found it.
